ALİ AKSOY
Director, screenwriter, photographer
Ali Aksoy was born on 21 November 1991 in Mersin, Turkey. He grew up in the towns of Ulaş and Ayvagediği in Mersin. He completed his primary education at Çapar Ayvagediği Primary School. After completing the first year of his high school education at Gözne Multi-Program High School, he transferred to Nihal Erdem Vocational High School of Commerce. He graduated from the Computer Programming department in 2009. After working in the field of Information Technology for 7 years, he developed an interest in screenwriting. As a result, he took scriptwriting courses from director Erhan Tuncer and acting courses from İrem Altuğ at Istanbul Sinematek. During this course, the idea of pursuing an academic career in cinema emerged. In the 2016-2017 academic year, he began his undergraduate education in the Department of Cinema and Television at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Çankırı Karatekin University. After graduating with honours in 2020, he was admitted to the university’s master’s programme with thesis the same year. He completed his master’s education in 2024 by defending his thesis on form in cinema. During this period, he participated in many projects.
He began his career by directing the music video Honor (2018). He undertook roles such as assistant director, cinematographer, editor, and camera operator in short films such as Z (2019), Missing (2019), Anormal (2020), and Proles (2020). He wrote and directed his first short film Walnut (2020). Currently, in addition to his academic studies, he is interested in his own film projects and provides video production services.
